Di serie il cambio è l’automatico M Steptronic a otto marce con sistema Drivelogic, che prevede tre mappature di gestione, ma a richiesta è disponibile la trasmissione manuale a sei marce, con Gear Shift Assistant per la doppietta automatica in scalata (disattivabile). Per il cambio automatico Bmw ha realizzato due software che privilegiano la guida più sportiva: quando raggiunge il limitatore in modalità manuale, il cambio non passa automaticamente alla marcia superiore, inoltre è possibile effettuare scalate multiple tenendo tirato il paddle al volante. Trazione solo posteriore, con differenziale autobloccante a controllo elettronico Active M. Velocità massima autolimitata a 250 km/h, da 0 a 100 in 4,1” e in 4,3” con il cambio manuale. Prezzo: 75.000 euro. Il cambio manuale è optional a 550 euro. A richiesta (2.700 euro) anche l’M Driver’s Package che include la velocità massima aumentata a 290 km/h, disponibile al completamento dell'ispezione di rodaggio dell'auto per 2.000 km e il Bmw Driver Training. M2 ha di serie sospensioni M con ammortizzatori a controllo elettronico, servosterzo M Servotronic parametrico, DSC con M Dynamic Mode, M Traction Control con 10 step di regolazione, freni M Compound, pneumatici anteriori 275/35 con cerchi da 19” e posteriori 285/30 con cerchi da 20”.
